On 15th August 2025, Loreto College celebrated the 79th Independence Day with the theme "Honouring Freedom, Inspiring the Future." The programme began in the college quadrangle with a welcome address and the remembrance of the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. The national flag was then hoisted by the community leader, Sr Powlin, along with faculty members and student representatives, followed by the singing of the national anthem with great pride and unity. The gathering then moved to the auditorium, where the lighting of the lamp was performed by distinguished guests and faculty members, invoking divine blessings. A prayer service was conducted by the AICUF society, after which Dr. Sanghita Sanyal delivered an inspiring speech. The cultural programme included a patriotic song, a thematic skit highlighting gender equality, and a dance performance symbolizing women's liberation. Student of Semester-3, Swetlana Mukherjee delivered a thought-provoking address on the role of youth in transforming gratitude into greatness. This was followed by a video presentation titled "India We Inherit, India We Build" and the symbolic "Flame of the Future" torch ceremony, where students pledged values of compassion, equality, honesty, and patriotism. The programme concluded with the collective oath, the song "Saare Jahan Se Accha," and a heartfelt vote of thanks.
The celebration was a meaningful and enriching experience, inspiring all to carry forward the spirit of freedom with responsibility and unity.
